Iceland

The second postcard I received from Loa is an aerial view of Reykjavik, the capital and the largest community of Iceland with the population of about 170,000 (including outlying suburbs). The city name Reykjavik (Smokey Bay) originated from the columns of steam that the original settlers saw rising from the hot springs in the area. The mountain Esja (914 meters) can be seen in the back.

As a waterfall cards lover, it's totally normal that I'm fond of wateflall stamps as well. This one was launched this year, showing the Aldeyjarfoss waterfall.

Iceland

I arranged a swap with Loa from Iceland and finally managed to get two more cards from Iceland! First one is an addition to my waterfall collection, a beautiful night view of Skógafoss waterfall with a volcanic eruption in the back. The waterfall is located in the south of Iceland at the cliffs of the former coastline. Its height is about 60 meters which makes it one of the highest waterfalls of Iceland.
According to legend, the first Viking settler in the area, Þrasi Þórólfsson, buried a treasure in a cave behind the waterfall. The legend continues that locals found the chest years later, but were only able to grasp the ring on the side of the chest before it disappeared again. The ring was allegedly given to the local church.

Many many thanks go to Loa for the beautiful cards and stamps. She even added small stickers with the coulours of the Icelandic flag!

IS-12194

The only card from Iceland that I have for now is this one. It's a multi-view of Skaftafell National Park, in the southeast of Iceland. It reached my mailbox at the end of July last year and it made me really happy :)
Iceland is an island European county located in the north of The Atlantic Ocean. It has a population of only 320 000. Its largest and capital city is Reykjavik. Iceland is also know as "The country of fire and ice".
There are three national parks on Iceland. One of them is The Skarftafell National Park.

Another topic of stamps that I collect are lighthouses, so I found this lighthouse stamp amazing. Thanks, Oskar!
