Russia

The Russian Empire existed from 1721 until the Russian Revolution of 1917, being the country with the third largest population of the world by the 1897 census. At the beginning of the 19th century, the Russian Empire extended from the Baltic Sea on the West to the Pacific Ocean and into North America on the East. By the end of the 19th century the size of the empire was about 22,400,000 square kilometres, covering almost 1/6 of the Earth's landmass. Pretty stunning facts, aren't they?

I simply hate when the cards reach me damaged or bent, but that has been happening quiet often lately, especially with the Russian cards. However, thanks to Larisa for this vintage map card!
