The last postcard for this evening is a lovely sunset view from Taiwan. Sarah says the photo was taken somewhere on the coast of southwest Taiwan. Searching for the facts about the coastline of Taiwan, I've found this... The shape of the main island of Taiwan is similar to a sweet potato seen in a south-to-north direction, and therefore, Taiwanese, especially the Min-nan division, often call themselves "children of the Sweet Potato".

Kim organized a great project for the young Taiwanese students to teach them about the world through postcards, just as the name of my blog says. I decided to join the fifth round of this amazing project and here's what my dear friend Anton sent me, nice view of Mt. Ali with the train in the front. He says this railway was built my Japanese. 

The giant tiger stamp was used. Beautiful!

The Tropic of Cancer is the circle of latitude on the Earth that marks the most northerly position at which the Sun may appear directly overhead at its zenith. This happens once a year, at the time of the June solstice.The imaginary line is called the Tropic of Cancer because when the Sun reaches the zenith at this latitude, it is entering the tropical sign of Cancer. When it was named, the Sun was also in the direction of thecondtellation Cancer. The postcard shows one of many monuments placed along this circle. This one was placed at the East coastline of Taiwan. It looks like a chess pawn, doesn't it?

Taiwan... such a beautiful and exotic country for me. I wish to visit it some day. A postcard from Yushan, shown above, reached me thanks to Choose a Country RR. Yushan, also known as Mt. Morrison, is the highest mountain in Taiwan and the whole East Asia.  The highest point of Yushan range, Yushan, raises 3,952 meters above the sea level.

This cute postcard comes from Taiwan. It shows two hearts on Penghu, a small island in Taiwan. They are very famous for their shape, but in the past they were used for catching fish. It looks very beautiful. Thanks, Lilian!

I would like to post more of my non-European cards on the blog so I'm posting one from Taiwan. It is amazing sunset view on Taipei, Taiwan.

Taiwan, officially part of Republic of China (ROC), is an island state located in Asia.^. Originally based in mainland China, the Republic of China currently governs the island of Taiwan, which forms over 99% of its territory, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and other minor islands.  

Taipei is the capital city, economic and cultural centre of the country, but New Taipei is the largest city in the country by population.

The postcards shows The Taipei 101, the tallest building in Taiwan with a height of 508 meters! It was completed in 2004 and it comprises 101 floors above ground and 5 floors underground.
