A postcard from Malaysia showing us how the natives prepare their food - baking rice and tapioca root in bamboo tubes. The Orang Asli (literally: "the original, natural people") are the indigenous people of Malaysia. In 2000, they comprised only 0.5% of the total population in Malaysia (app. 148,000). Eighteen different tribes within the Orange Asli can be destinguished, forming three major groups - Semang, Senoi and Proto-Malay. Sadly, the poverty rate and infant mortality rate among these tribes are very high.

Malaysia
My market postcards collection has also increased. One of new arrivals is this colorful view over Kota Baru's Central Market in Kalantan, Malaysia. Mached with beautiful market stamp, this is one of my favorites from what I've received lately. The vividness is just amazing! Would love to take a walk and taste some of the local vegetables and fruit :)

Malaysia
Quite some time ago I found this lovely view with skyscrapers of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. Two towers that can be seen on the cards are actually pretty famous: they are called the Petronas Tower, and from 1998 to 1994 they were the tallest building in the world. The Petronas are one of the main landmarks of Kuala Lumpur.
The stamp above was issued on 16 September 2013 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the formation of Malaysia. Thanks, Matthew!

Malaysia
This weeks has been so crazy and I had had so little spare time, but finally it's weekend and I can show all the stunning postcard I received. Talking about cards I received, this weeks has been superb - over 20 postcards including two new countries :)
However, the first postcard I chose is not a new country, but a nice addition to my market collection. It's Chowrasta Market in Georfetown, Penang. On the weekend, it's a colorful effusion of multi-coloured umbrellas that create the atmosphere of a local fair.

Malaysia
Malaysian town Koat Belud (located in Sabah - "Land Below The Wind") is very known for its huge open air market - "tamu". It comes alive every Sunday, teeming with local people and the most amazing variety of goods. The colours are amazing! The Harvest Festival known as Pesta Kaamatan, and "Tamu Besar" is an annual event in Kota Belud. Many many thanks to Fiona!

Malaysia
Thanks to Fiona, I've got this beautiful cards from Siti Khadijah Market, a wet market in Kota Botharu, Malaysia in my market collection. The view from above is amazing, so many colours! The Siti Khadijah Market is one of the most famous markets in whole Malaysia due to the uniqueness of the layout, and the main and central market of Kota Botharu. Local products are sold, usually by ladies who sit up on a platform, with sunlight coming from the entire surface of the roof.

Malaysia
Oh, you can't even imagine how much I'd like to walk around that market at this moment... And the market cards have become another passion of mine lately. Matthew writes the locals in Malaysia call it "tamu". A variety of items, such as fruits, spice, vegetables, chickens, fish etc. can be purchased from there. The longest market in Malaysia is located in Sibu, Sarawak.
Huge thank goes to Lai for great card and nice stamp.

Malaysia
What a nice railway station they have in Kuala Lumpur! It was built at the turn of 20th century, described as a remarkably outstanding piece of Moorish architecture.

Malaysia
My first postcard from Malaysia! :) Malaysia is such an exotic and far country for me. It seems like it's on another planet, so I'd like to visit it some day myself to make sure it's located here, on the Earth. :) Anyway, Malaysia is a pretty large monarchy in Southeast Asia. The capital city is Kuala Lumpur, with the population of approximately 1.6 million residents. Nataša, who was visiting, wrote that she was quiet impressed with the city and Jalan Petaling, shown on the postcard.
Jalan Petaling is a popular tourist spot which buzzes with life every evening when stalls sell a mind-boggling array of goods such as leather products, cameras, clothes, costume jewellery and souvenirs. Nataša had a great time there for sure!
Hvala, Nataša!
