Dominican Republic
This card was travelling for quite a while, but was absolutely worth waiting :) Look at all the exotic fruits! I've found some did-you-know facts about Dominica Republic... The oldest permanent settlement in the Western Hemisphere is the capital city of Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, founded in 1496. The flag of the Dominican Republic is the only national flag in the world to feature the image of a bible. Dominican Republic is one of the top ten producers of cocoa in the world.
Many thanks go to Idrialis this time.

Dominican Republic
This is a written and stamped postcard from the 100TH COUNTRY in my collection! *happy dance* Even though some countries are very hart to get, I enjoy finding the way to get a card as much as having the card itself...
Many thanks go to Yahira for the beautiful postcard (unfortunately, without a stamp).
Dominican Republic is a nation on the island of Hispaniola, part of the Greater Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean region. The western third of the island is occupied by the nation of Haiti, making Hispaniola one of two Caribbean islands, along with Saint Martin, that are shared by two countries. Both by area and population, the Dominican Republic is the second largest Caribbean nation (after Cuba), with 48,442 square kilometres and an estimated 10 million people.
For most of its history (up to independence) the colony was known as Santo Domingo, the name of its present capital, and its patron saint, Saint Dominic. The residents were called "Dominicanos" (Dominicans), which is the adjective form of "Domingo", and the revolutionaries named their newly independent country "La República Dominicana". At present, the Dominican Republic is one of two nations worldwide (along with the Central African Republic) with only a demonym-based name.
