It is situated on both sides of the Rhine River. The University of Cologne (Universität zu Köln) is one of Europe's oldest and largest universities as well.
Cologne Cathedral, whose silhouette you can see on the card above, is Germany's most visited landmark, attracting an average of 20,000 people a day. It is a renowned monument of German Catholicism and Gothic architecture and is a World Heritage Site.
