Cyprus

Cyprus is  a Euroasian island country located in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and the Republic of Cyprus is a member of the European Union. It's capital is Nicosia.
The Republic of Cyprus is de facto partitioned into two main parts; the area under the effective control of the Republic of Cyprus, comprising about 59% of the island's area, and the Turkish-controlled area in the north, calling itself the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and recognized only by Turkey, covering about 36% of the island's area.

Kolossi Caste is a former Crusader stronghold. It held great strategic importance and contained facilities for the production of sugar, one of Cyprus's main exports in the Middle Ages. The original castle was possibly built in 1210 by the Frankish military, when the land of Kolossi was given by King Hugh III to the Knights of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem. (Hospitallers). The present castle was built in 1454 by the Hospitallers.
The castle consists of a tower known as a keep with an attached rectangular enclosure or bailey about 30 by 40 metres.
