Romania

A colorful postcard from Bucharest, Romania reached my mailbox few days ago and I immediately fell in love with it. The postcard shows the Union Square in Bucharest. Many thanks to Violeta who was so kind are resent postcard to me, as the first one has been lost.
Bucharest is the largest and the capital city of Romania since 1862, with around 1.7 million inhabitants. It lies on the banks of the Dambovita River, in the southeast of the country. Due to the city's elegant architecture and the sophistication of its elite, Bucharest earned the nickname of "Little Paris". Bucharest has a large number of landmark buildings and monuments, just to name few: the Palace of the Parliament, the Triumphal Arch (built in its current form in 1935 and modeled after the Arc de Triomphe in Paris), the National Museum of Contemporary Art, the Memorial of Rebirth . . .
