Vatican City

Ever since I joined Postrosssing project 640 days ago, I have been dreaming of getting a written and stamped postcard from the smallest country in the world - Vatican City. Now when it actually happened, I can't find the world to describe my happiness :) Many, many thanks to Rita who lives only about 15 minutes from Vatican. Where have you been hiding till now?
It would be pitty not to write a few words about this interesting small country . . . Vatican City, in Italian offcially Stato della Cittá del Vaticano, is a city-state whose territory consists of a walled enclave within Rome, Italy. An area of approximately 44 hectares and a population of just over 800, make Vatican City the smallest independent state in the world by both area and population. Vatican is a sacerdotal-monarchical state ruled by the Bishop of Rome, Pope. Current Pope is Benedict XVI. As the Vatican City is also the location of the Pope's residence and almost all high-positioned Catholic clergymen of various national origins, it's often called the Holly See.
There are numerouos things to visit in Vatican City, such as the Vatican Gardens which account for more than half of this territory, St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Library, St. Peter's Square (shown on the postcard above) etc. Vatican City really seems like an extraordinary country. Hopefully, I'll be able to visit it some day!

I have almost forgotten to mention another special occasion, the reason why I'm posting the card from Vatican on the blog right now. This is the 50th country in my postcard collection! I have written and stamped postcard(s) from fifty diffrent countries, mostly European. My goal now is to collect postcards from 100 diffrent countries, but written and stamped only. I know it's gonna be hard to reach that goal, but I enjoy this hobby so much, so I'm sure that the time used on arranging swaps and looking for persons who can help me with my "100 countries" project, is gonna be a delight.
Thanks, Rita, once again!
