A card from the Palestinian territories reached my mailbox this morning! I won't be writing anything about occupied Palestinian territories nor about the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, but the fact is there are key issues yet to solve - borders, security, water rights, control of Jerusalem, Israeli settlements, Palestinian freedom of movement and finding a resolution to the refugee question.
To move on some more beautiful themes... The postcard itself shows Mar Saba, the oldest inhabited monastery in the world, located in the West Bank east of Bethlehem. It was founded The traditional date for the founding of the monastery by Saint Sabas of Mutalaska, Cappadocia is the year 483 and today houses around 20 monks. The monastery holds the relics of St. Sabbas the Sanctified.
Thanks to Loujain!
